Staying well in Winter |
|
When you are healthy, you feel good in yourself; have high energy and respond easily to challenges. During winter, most of us slow down and feel generally less alert. We miss the sunshine, want to eat more and feel less inclined to exercise. These are natural responses to the changing seasons but it can make us more open to illness. Stress may also cause us to feel under the weather and more likely to suffer from colds and flu.

Boost your immune system by:
- Enjoying life! Laugh and have fun regularly
- Regular exercise, fresh air and sunlight
- A good mixed diet with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables (fresh garlic has anti bacterial and anti viral properties)
- Plenty of filtered water daily to cleanse the system
- Adequate rest and sleep
Sugar suppresses immune function so watch your sugar intake.
Good ways to beat colds and flu
- 1000mg vitamin C daily for adults
- A good multivitamin/mineral including zinc
- A good probiotic (70% of our immune system is in the gut)
- 10 drops of Echinacea 3 times a day at the first sign of a cold
- Avoid dairy products which encourage the production of mucus
- When ill drink plenty of water, fruit juices, hot lemon and hone
Each person experiences colds and flu-like illness in different ways. Homeopathic treatment is prescribed on your individual symptoms. For example:
